ST JOHN’S AMBULANCE VISIT TO SIRIUS COLLEGE

St John’s Ambulance will visit our school on May 22nd to deliver free First Aid in Schools training to our students. Through this program, trained St John’s presenters lead students from Foundation to Grade 6 through tailored sessions on the importance of First Aid and what to do in the event of an emergency. Our junior students learn about how to identify when there is an emergency, keeping themselves safe and how to call for an ambulance. Senior students learn about delivering CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and the things they can do to assist in an emergency.

Participating students will be given a special piece of homework for parents to complete. We encourage you to “do your homework” and go online to see how much you know about First Aid. Are you First Aid READY?

URBAN CAMP

Week One of this term, saw the year 5-8 students attend our annual camp which was held in Melbourne. We visited a variety of venues that have further enhanced their learning e.g. Tennis Centre, National Art Gallery, Melbourne Star, Cook’s Cottage and Parliament House. It was an enjoyable few days. We encourage all students’ participation in these extra-curricular activities in order to extend their general knowledge and life experiences.
